You're nowhere unless you've got a publicist, and your publicist is nowhere unless he
can glom on to a celebrity who uses his service."

History And Experience Equals Know How Our family owned company is
now based on the Southern California coast. However, the Garis legacy of promotion, entertainment and publicity
success goes back almost a century. It began in New York City, with the creation of the world renown (four star) Garrison's
Restaurant & Night Club located across the street from Radio City Music Hall. Garrison's became
"the" place to be seen in New York. For over 33 years, the clientele read like a celebrity
who's who list. From names like Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor to Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack and Broadway's
brightest stars – everyone was there. Hollywood's A-list, the media elite, and the icons of political power all mingled
at Garrison's. Many famous names including comedian Bob Hope, and singer Rudy Vallee even worked for the Garis family while
getting their start in entertainment. Promoter Jim Garis - grandfather of National Publicist,
R. J. Garis (see R. J.'s bio below) also played a significant role in launching the entertainment
careers of music superstars Kate Smith, The Andrew Sisters and more.
Other famous names
worked with included: Judy Garland, Arthur Godfrey and Phil Silvers. Icon of the modeling industry John Robert Powers
himself directed modeling shows at Garrison's. Even the very first remote radio talk show in America
was broadcast live from the front window of Garrison's on 50th street! R. J.'s father (Robert Garis) was one of the
world's most renown restaurant designers. His projects include over 500 famous dining and entertainment spots such as: Tavern
On The Green, The Hilton La Valencia in La Jolla, The Beverly Hills Hotel, Lawrence Welk Resort, The Theme Building at LAX,
La Costa Resort and The Lodge at Yosemite National Park. He is also responsible for the initial creation and design of some
of the most successful family dining chains including: Denny's, DuPars (used in many films and TV shows) and I-Hop. With that
kind of entertainment history, evolving into the public relations and promotion business was a natural progression for the
Garis family.
Our family members also have a rich history and connection to the media itself.
Grandfather to R. J. Garis (on his mother's side) was with the New York Daily News for over 25 years. His uncle, with the
New York Times for 37 years.
Garis PR has also worked with some of the most memorable personalities and
news stories in media history. Just a few diverse examples include: controversial skater Tonya Harding, The Swedish Bikini
Team (Playboy cover), The Boston Strangler Letters (a Dateline NBC exclusive) and many others. .
